Upgrading to... XP?
So I should not just replace one proprietary operating system with another, but I should pick a minority proprietary operating system that is locked in to overpriced hardware and only provides half of the software that I need, just so that I can have the added cost of re-licensing the few programs it does support? :p
I will get a mac, but not as a replacement for my WXP machine - I've already moved to Windows from a minority OS because I needed what other people had. Although there's a great deal of software on the Mac that I would like to use, it can't replace my main desktop, it's just too incompatible. And anyway, if I didn't need XP on my main machine, I'd probably go with Ubuntu - at least that way I'm free to buy what hardware I want. But I'd still keep Windows around for the games ;)

I Hate My Neighbours
I need help. My neighbour is a young girls (30) with 2 kids. She has a different man in her flat most nights. She is on benefits as well. Her kids play football in our small square thus, damaging my garden, climibing my garden wall etc., I can't say anything as she threatens me with all sorts and swears at me. How can I get rid of her

I Hate My Neighbours
It's a good idea - I tried it last night! Someone has dragged one bin back in through the gate, and left it about 20 feet away from the shed. But it's only 28 hours so far - I will keep you posted!
Take the bins out, so as to avoid the stench... then leave them there. People will hopefully soon realise that the bins are not where they're meant to be.

Unfortunately, I seem to have taken it a step further, and I've got my voice traffic on a separate VLAN to my client network, which is separated from the internet router via another router, which is also being the asterisk server. It's all getting rather silly :)
Another Infrequent Update
Nah, I'll do something much more complicated, like figure out how to make the whole thing interact with cacti, and then permission you ro access to a few graphs :)
I suppose you could get uptime and ps as well though....

I'll do some stats for you on my asterisk box, which is a laptop running nothing other than asterisk and mpd. Not quite sure how I'll do this, but I'll figure out a way.
My concern over that is partly bandwidth, partly CPU/memory usage, and partly that I don't know enough about Asterisk at the moment to trust my ability to run my own phone service :p
How much CPU/memory does Asterisk use when idling, and how much when mid-call?
Need a headset before I can start to play with any of these things anyway :)
You know I'm just going to jump up and down and tell you that Asterisk can do your failover forwarding stuff for you. :)
