Ah, getting the train - a wise choice! See you in a bit!
Hey Rich -- I'll hopefully be arriving around 1830, depending on exactly which train I manage to catch. Will let you know via SMS soon as I know. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
It's been a while
I note the Office bag!!!
Tee hee, I am stalking you!
Surely, the term is "stalk".
I am in your Firefox, stealing your Passwords
Browsers have got to be the worst place to keep passwords. Of ways that attackers have into your system, your web browser has to be up there as one of the easiest.
I set remember passwords to off on anything important, but it's handy for a few sites with non-persistent sessions that I have to log into several times a day.
Mozilla seem so hell-bent on gaining more market share that they're forgetting the devs and admins who have got them where they are today. Thanks to Firefox 3, they've certainly moved up a few spots on my list - right in between Wikipedia deletionists and Debian package maintainers.
It all sounds like a reasonable complaint. I'd never have noticed it, though, had you not mentioned it, since my default setting for remembering passwords is "no". I'm certainly not going to let my browser do that.
In my opinion, remembering passwords shouldn't even be an option, and I've done my best to disable it on the sites I create. I want my users to be aware of what their passwords are at all times, since at some point, they are going to need it - and I don't want them poking their head into my office every 5 minutes asking for a new one.
Good luck with getting the Mozilla people to acknowledge it, though. The couple of times I've tried to bring stuff to their attention their reaction has been that they know best, and that they design for the majority of users - to the extent of leaving out options that would only be useful to the minority (such as stuff for mass installations in a university style setting...)
Flash, Iframes and IE
More time on ICQ :(
I want to berate you about things.
Seriously though Dell, it's April 2nd now
Are you related to Julie Mallion? I knew she had two brothers, one of them Richard Terry. If you're the right Richard, that would make you her half brother, although you both share the family name Terry before she married.
Tx and cheers!
Let's move!
They speak English in the Maldives :)
Mmm, good point - I've always fancied Norway. Something about the fjords. Although Rune seems nice, so perhaps I should give Denmark a chance too. That or buy an island and do things my way.
As Rune suggests, I think you're pushing your luck looking for an English speaking country that isn't already in the pits. That said, I've heard they speak English in Zimbabwe.
I reckon somewhere in Scandinavia is your best bet - you can get away without learning another language, and as long as you don't mind a slightly more expensive lifestyle in general, I think you'd be happy.
I speak foreign - it's just like english, only slower and louder. If that fails, there's always the universal language of pointing!
I don't expect that there's any decent English-speaking countries left, but you can come over here to Denmark - we don't mind that you don't speak the language anyway ;-)
Obscure Bugs Revisited: IE, HTTPS and Plugins
A fair comment! But sadly there isn't a real alternative for a lot of stuff I need to do. Thing that gets me about this issue though is that it doesn't work for any plugin, so that would include things like secure billing pdfs - I'd have thought the problem would crop up quite frequently. Quite how they missed that in their design and testing I don't know.
Obviously, the problem is that you're using flash :)
Barcelona
Your Spanish was bloody awesome actually! You're not known as "Ricardo" for nothing, and don't forget it!!!!
Eye eye

Hey hey! Yes, it was excellent, even though we suffered the usual indignity of attempting to speak broken Spanish recited from quickly memorising the relevant part of a phrasebook, only to be replied to in perfect English. Ugh, I'm such a tourist ;)
But yes, it was excellent! Well worth a long weekend like we had, although there's apparently enough to do outside the city to make it worth going for a week.
Sounds wonderful.
Glad you enjoyed it. I've been wanting to get there for a couple of years now. Soon! :D
See you around,
Mk.
