Paint Shop Pro Is Neat

So I bought Paint Shop Pro 9 the other day (that's what arrived), and have been using it a bit, and it's kinda neat. It's actually better than PSP 7 and PSP 8 - to some people that may sound obvious, but most of the time when I upgrade software I regret it because all they have done is add worthless feature bloat that makes the program slower and less reliable.

I've never used photoshop, and that's because I've never needed to; psp has done everything I've wanted to do and more. I'm aware that psp is the poor man's photoshop, but it's actually 9 times the price, it can't be worth that. Many of the nifty new useful features in psp 9 are probably lifted from photoshop... but who cares. It's £50 and does the job. Very well. And in fact it will probably do any other job I want to do.

This just reinforces the feeling that I got ripped off when I bought that bug-ridden pile that is flash, even if I did find it over £100 cheaper than list price.

Can't decide whether to sell Photoshop and get PSP9 or not. For Web graphics etc, I find XaraX immensely useful, though.

Xara is by the same company as Computer Concepts who wrote Artworks, so XaraX must be pretty good :) Never tried it though.

Why not download it then? Free trial. And if you have AW, you can upgrade for about 25 quid. XaraX is fantastic. Shame Xara don't update it more regularly though :-(
