How appropriate
How appropriate that the BBC should run a punctuation quiz the day we talk about spelling in the BCSS lab.
In particular, question 4 (which I got wrong just to see what they said about it):
It's wrong... [sensible people put] the last full stop outside the closing speech marks.
So you suck, Tristan.
I want everyone to now go and take the test, and post their results back here. I got 10.
Comments
Yes, Tristan does suck. But I want to see his skills of an artist. Well, g2g!
Bah 8, because i didn't know about a) shakespear, b) that :- is screaming... wtf
I got 5 :/ But I'm not a native English speaker, and my teacher's way of teaching us punctuation was along the lines of "The English don't teach it in school, so we're not going to either!"...
In America, it is standard to put the full stop inside brackets or speech marks. It looks really stupid though.
Stu: Yeah, that's actually what it said in the BBC answer...
I got 7, but im from Middlesbrough. Radiac, i know you cheated, it's in your nature ;)
