Yay :)

Yesterday Leela came over and we watched some films and ate some food, and today I fixed her laptop and then we watched more films and ate more food. Tomorrow I'm off home, time to do some work!
Home again

I'm home now. Well, actually I got home yesterday; left at about 2, got home at 9.30. That was fun. Because my bags are so heavy and the straps so knackered, my shoulders are red and look like I have been whipped, and they also ache a lot. Still, they'll be better by Sunday, ready for the trip back to uni...
Today I didn't do a lot... woke up late and then installed windows on this computer, which used to run gentoo, but it sucked too much - was about as stable as a cod riding a unicycle. Then I made a phone call, watched ER and did some work.
Tomorrow I will have a haircut and do some more work - got a lot to catch up on. Sucks!

Work work work

Been working on stuff today, going back to Bath tomorrow, all very exciting. Went to Tescos tonight and bought a thing of profiteroles, but have eaten them all now. Oh dear. And rather than doing work all day, I watched some John Wayne westerns, which were surprisingly good.
Oh, and Volvic is definitely better than Vittel, which joins Evian, Highland Spring and that Welsh rubbish they sell at uni.
Leela Comedy Quote Of The Day (in a conversation about petrol stations): It's quite good that they don't blow up, really.

I should go to bed

Once again, I return. I've been a little busy the past few days, what with the new semester starting (had a lecture yesterday) and my busy social life (today, I watched Rosie and Jim while eating muffins).
Actually I have been up to quite a bit since last Saturday - got the train home on Sunday, which was pretty uneventful, apart from when I got on the wrong underground train again, but we won't go into that. At least this time the train was going in the right direction.
Oh, and you know I don't like to brag, but I hang out with the cast from Buffy - I sat opposite Giles on my train to London last week. Well, it was either him or his identical twin brother, and since he apparently lives in Bath and doesn't have an identical twin brother, it was probably him.
There was another tonbschl website deadline on Tueday, which I just about met (worked till 7.30 Tuesday morning :)), and now I believe it's about time I concentrated on my final year project, joy, so I've started writing the thresholding code.
When I got back on Sunday, we met up at the pub, which was fun - I drank many cocktails and had a tasty burger. We then bought burgers on the way home, which seemed a little excessive, but then again I guess I had run across London without any food since the previous evening. Also so far this week, I have sent lots of emails and text messages, and last night I stayed up till about 4.30 watching films and eating ice cream. Fun!
This evening I have bought a couple of DVDs and a CD. Nearly bought a new computer too, but I think I'll do that tomorrow.
Anyway, I had better go to bed, since I have an 11.15 lecture tomorrow - I'm going to have to get up early, what a pain.

The Project, It Goes Well
16th February 2004 at 21:03Comment
I have been making good progress with my project; I have broken the implementation into 8 small chunks, where steps 1 and 7 can be stolen from the internet and step 8 is 'Go to the pub'. So yes, I like this plan. Only problem is I'm not entirely sure how step 6 works, and I very possibly missed the lab today where it was explained. Oh well, how hard can computer vision be?
On Saturday, I got a Guns and Roses cd. I'm not entirely sure why, but it has something to do with 'Paradise City' being such a good track. And SG1 DVD 32 - and yes, I have them all. Let's just not go there, ok? But at least I'm sticking with the rule Anton set down when I was on SG1 DVD 4 or 5 - for every SG1 DVD I get, I must counteract it by buying at least 2 other DVDs. Thanks Anton, I owe my DVD collection to you :)
I'm not quite sure why, but this computer sucks. It's supposed to be 1.3Ghz and be pretty great, but half the time it can't even do basic things like loading my mail client. Might have something to do with the fact there's only 256mb ram, but honestly, that should be enough for any relatively sane OS. Oh, answered my own question again. Never mind. Anyway, this time it has decided to not let me use my arrow keys in firebird. Dumb.
Anyway, away to my coding! This should be fun!

Integrated Circuits Are The Boredom
17th February 2004 at 15:267 comments
Right, I have decided that I cannot possibly do the integrated circuits unit, because I find it boring and it's going to start needing lots of electronicsy stuff that I haven't done in years and don't particularly want to start on again. The question is what to do instead; I'm thinking since I have been to HCI and have the t-shirt (well, 5 of them), I may as well take the course too. So I have my form to change units, it will be glorious. At least until it gets to group coursework...
