Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of you!

Let's hope this year'll be better than the last :)

Or maybe I shouldnt have said that. Hasn't worked the past 2 years... *shrug* I mean well ;)

It's The Final Countdown ~doobie doobie doobie doooo~

My headphones just broke. Good job I got new ones for Christmas. Oh, hang on, no I didnt, that's what I asked for. Never mind.

Well, I got one step closer to doing something about the website this year. I changed the design. Slightly. It's basically the style sheet and page template for the redone site, but without the redone site. So let's play spot the difference. Or not. I dunno. Depends how bored you are, I guess.

I've got a lot of plans for the site this year... I think I probably say that every so often, but I really do, honest. Some, if not most, of the ideas have been floating around in my head since I started the site in May 2000 (who remembers that flash? :)), it's just I haven't made time to do them. Don't know if I'll make time this year. I think if I'm going to have a new years resolution, it should probably be 'Seize the day' or 'Do not put off till tomorrow what you can do today' or 'Don't smoke crack' or something. I dunno. Depends how bored I am, I guess.

Had fun at the pub with Chris and Jamie, and had fun at Jamie's house either side of the pub with Chris and Jamie, which was fun. Lots of fun.

I like anime

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD-25s.

They are rather nice.

I also have two vouchers for free packets of walkers crisps, apparently from a Miss Noakes. Thank you very much :)

Back at uni

I'm back at uni now.

Have an exam on Tuesday. This is not good, because I haven't done a lot of revision.

I should have done more revision.

I know every time exams come round, I joke how I'm going to get kicked out. This time, I'm serious... I am screwed :p

<beep><flash><panic> Workload Alert!

In the middle of exams now... did the first one today. Databases. I now know what TPS, MIS, DSS, EIS and OLAP stand for. I know about goal setting, gap information and change information. I know about federated DBMS system architectures, locking, deadlock, deadlock prevention, two-phase locking and deadlock resolution. Audit trail analysis.

radiac starts dribbling

Dependent, independent, associative, aggregate and subordinate entities...

radiac starts banging his head against the desk

Anyway. 3 weeks and hardly a peep, then as soon as I get back to uni and have some work to do, non-uni work emails haven't stopped popping up. I now appear to be working for 6 different people on the school website, and they all want me to email them. Whee! And then I got an email from someone who someone at the school has told that I might be able to help them with their website. I think I have a bit too much on at the moment, so I have, for the first time ever, turned down work. Yes folks, I think I made a decision with my knowledge, using information that I processed from data. I am a walking TPS, MIS and DSS, all rolled into one.

I think I need to sleep.

Exams! Yay!

I love exam time. Stupid - 3 weeks off, then 2 weeks of exams, then another week off. I'm half way through my second week of exams now, I guess... had two last week, have one tomorrow, one Thursday and one Friday. Revising like mad... well, actually it's more like vising, the re suggests I knew it in the first place. Anyway, I think I've put more effort into these exams than any others, at least as far as I can remember... most of the time since I got back to uni, the computer has just been sitting here with dictionary.com open... why do most of my lecturers insist on using words I don't understand or constructing phrases with far too many polysyllabic words? Monosyllables and bullet points, please :)

Gwah

Well, it's computation III in about 3 hours. I think the stress is getting to me:

Radiac is listening to Gummy Bears - Theme.
(on my status page at the moment). Gwah

This is all Chris' fault. I hate him, I really do.

Its All Over Now

Just woke up. Yay, all exams finished. Started off OK, got steadily worse. Oh well :)

Should I go back to Sevenoaks over consolidation week?

Hmm

25th January 2003 at 14:37Comment
Well, that was interesting.

Just walked into the lounge and found a random bloke, I'd guess in his 40s, watching the television.

I thought about asking him who he was, but thought it would be a bit rude, so just said 'Hi' and walked out again.

I'm waiting for someone else to wake up and tell me who it is...

He just spent the past 15 minutes rolling around on my floor laughing. Anyone looking for a new flatmate/somewhere to live next year? ;)

Apart from that, today has been most productive - I have finished another stage in another tonbschl website (first deliverable one, they should be happy), updated various things on the main tonbschl site (results and the events for this term - had to convert from HTML to CSV to CSV before I could load it into the database... took ages, bah), and...

There's a new version of Ernie the Error Spider (1.2.4) in my perl section... this version has an exclusion list, and is available as a .zip or .tar.gz. Enjoy.

Oooh, ooh, and I didnt tell you about my new toy! I got me a graphics tablet for my birthday present (they'll give me the money later, apparently). Don't know why, I can't draw. Always wanted one, I guess. I drew a person. It looked like a tree. Still, it's a lot of fun - will put up some pictures soon :)

Another Productive Day

31st January 2003 at 02:05Comment
I woke up before midday today, went downstairs and found 17 dvds waiting for me. I love play, and they love me. It was Princess Mononoke and EVERY episode of The Professionals EVER MADE! Woo! All 57 episodes, across 4 and a bit series. Watched the first dvd, it's worth every penny :)

Then went into town to replace my cordless phone - bought one last year, and it didnt work. Which sucked, so I now have a new one. While I was in the town, I nipped into W H Smiths since I had some tokens from Christmas, and bought Douglas Adams' last book (The Salmon of Doubt) and another DVD, AP3 - Goldmember, which completes my AP set. 18 DVDs today, 5 were still on the 'to watch' pile, and with 1 down, I make it 22 to go :p
