Fluffy v1.1 has now been released. I don't see me doing any more to it. The SIGHUP bug has been fixed (for anyone interested, the perl 'exec' command blocks SIGHUP, you need to use POSIX to unblock it, dead easy really), it's been tidied up a lot, and I've added a couple of things.
Also moved the downloads section to radiac.net from guides.radiac.net. Made more sense. You can find fluffy1.1.zip in there.
Now to start on Nevil the Pointless Non-forking Server... grr, I need to get out more...

Nevil and Cletus
6th October 2001 at 01:55Comment
I've *nearly* finished Nevil and Cletus.
Nevil the Pointless Non-forking Server.. well, what can I say. Cletus the Non-forking Chatroom would be a pretty good base for anyone wanting to write a perl-based talker/mud.
I *really* need to get out more.
Just had a very nice evening of mild cocktails and spiked juice. Photos in the photos section soon...
And I've now been here for 2 weeks. That's scary.

Cooking

Having been thrown in at the deep end of the cooking world, and having had a bit of a struggle this past couple of weeks, I thought I would share my discoveries in the form of a guide to cooking.

Well, quite a bit of stuff has been happening. And arriving.
I've finished a pretty good search engine for the school website, and (hopefully) almost finished the virtual tour...
I've had some lectures, we've even done some work *gasp*!
And I've ordered 3 t-shirts ('BOFH' from theregister.co.uk, 'Will work for bandwidth :)' and 'Go away or I will replace you with a very small shell script' from thinkgeek.com), a mug ('WTF?' from thinkgeek.com), 8 posters (pretty varied, stickitonyourwall.com), 2 dvds from play247, and a 19" Iiyama Vision Master Pro 451 from dabs.
The mail people here at the uni are going to love me...

Well, sorry it's been a while... quite a bit has happened recently.
Not least my monitor has arrived!
Nice 19" CRT - Iiyama Vision Master Pro 451.
However, carrying it (it's very very heavy) from the mail place to our building for 60 long seconds, then up 10 flights of stairs wasn't fun.
Nor was opening it, setting it up, turning it on and noticing a deep scratch at the bottom, and realising I'd have to take it somewhere else, post it back to Dabs, and carry another one up.
Ho hum. Life just gets better and better, doesn't it... :/

Emailed dabs about my scratched monitor on friday. No reply, so I phoned them today just after 4. I was in the queue for over 30 minutes. When I eventually got through, they told me to ring Iiyama, who would deal with it faster. I rang Iiyama, another 10 minute queue. They said they didn't deal with damaged stuff, I have to go back to Dabs. Phoned them back, I was on the queue for another 10 minutes listening to the updates, then at 5.05 I realised I hadn't heard any updates in 5 minutes, and seeing as they close at 5, I assumed that they hung up on me without telling me.
Not a happy puppy.
So, just for any Dabs representatives reading this, I knocked up a little perl script here.

I'm stuck in their queue again.
Well, it's not so bad; I've moved 7 places in the past 15 minutes...
Maybe I should pity the operator who takes my call... nah, the bastards must suffer!

Still 5th... this isn't funny, I've spent over £24.50 on phone calls due to their incompetance...

Aloha! I am on the train to paddington at the moment... dan mike and theo persuaded me to spodmeet with them :)
Then I'm off home, and will return tomorrow. woo...
Heh, then i'm at home all the next (we have a 'reading week')
I'm going to go now... this is very annoying, I'm typing too fast for my keyboard buffer and it's overflowing... a lot...
